The overall theme of any house can be greatly influenced by your choice of table and floor lamps. There are many different styles of home lamps, from traditional to the most contemporary. In the past a home lamp was mainly used for the candle power of light it was able to put out. That has changed in the past few years, home lamps have become an extremely important part of the home décor. Up until this century there were only a few rooms in the home that the use of home lamps was taken advantage of. Today there is not a room in our homes where a table or floor lamp could not be used.
When choosing new lamps for your home, keep in mind that decorative elements look much better when placed in groups of odd numbers rather than even numbers. For example in a family room you might want to use an arrangement of two table lamps and a floor lamp, instead of two table lamps and two floor lamps. The right lamp can add warmth and color to any room, while at the same time still providing the proper light levels. There are many home lamps that will enhance the theme and style you are portraying and still give you the functional side as well. Lamps are quickly becoming an essential part of any room design
If you intend to use a table lamp for reading keep in mind to get a lamp that sits high enough that it will focus the light on to your reading area. Keep in mind when you are shopping for home lamps that you might want to change the location so purchase lamps the will work for you in several different areas of your home.
It is very important to remember to keep all floor and table lamps at a safe distance from all combustible material such as drapes and other home furnishing. You should also be aware of the manufactures recommendation for the size of light bulb used, for example never put a 100 watt bulb in a lamp that is only rated at 60 watts. You should inspect the lamp cords periodically for frayed wiring or damage to the plus itself. It is recommended that you always unplug the lamp when changing the bulbs or cleaning the lamp.
